The new iPhone has an Offload Unused Apps feature that allows users to uninstall apps without losing data. This feature is helpful for those with limited storage space, and can save a lot of space. To offload unused apps, simply turn the feature on in Settings.
This feature was introduced with iOS 11 to address users’ issues with storage space. It’s not just limited to apps, though. Users can also use it to delete files and documents. You can see how much storage your iPhone is using by visiting Settings – General – iPhone Storage. When the Offload Unused Apps feature is on, the Home screen will have a puffy cloud next to the app icon.
If you’ve accidentally turned on the Offload Unused Apps feature, you can turn it off again. Alternatively, you can reinstall unused apps. However, you may have to sign in again. Reinstalling apps will return the data that was lost. Also, some reinstalled apps will contain gaming information.
To offload an app, tap on the app icon. In the resulting list, you will be able to see the apps that have used up the most space. Each app in the list is ordered by how much space it has taken. Next to each name is a cloud download icon. That means you can download the app again.

You can offload unused apps on your iPhone or iPad. You can do this manually or automatically. Apple does not provide a time limit for this feature, so you will want to keep that in mind. For example, an app like Google Assistant will be offloaded when you don’t use it for a long period of time.
If you find that you have to offload a particularly large app, you may be able to get it back by reinstalling it. Once you reinstall the app, you can take your gaming data with you. All you need to do is download the app from the App Store again.
Another thing you can do if you have a lot of unused space on your phone is to manually offload the apps that you no longer need. Fortunately, it’s easy to do. Just navigate to the Storage screen in Settings – General – iPhone Storage.
When the offload app has finished its job, you’ll see it disappear. At the same time, the Home screen will show a cloud download icon. You can now reinstall the offloaded app by tapping on it.

Offloading apps is a great way to free up a little space on your iPhone, but if you’re looking for a more reliable way to free up space, consider deleting the app. Doing this will keep the data and settings of the app on your device. On the other hand, removing the app will only be a temporary fix. Remember, it’s best to get the apps you need in the first place.
Depending on the apps you’re trying to offload, you might have to do more than just turn on the Offload Unused Apps feature. You might also have to do something about a particular app’s settings.
