If you have a Mac, you will need to know how to change printer settings on your computer. This is easy to do and allows you to customize your printing needs. For instance, you can adjust the amount of ink your printer uses, as well as print multiple pages to a single page. Other options include changing the color of the ink and setting the paper type.
In general, you should be able to find your printer’s settings by going to the Apple menu. The Apple menu can be found at the top left of your screen. It contains a number of settings you can tweak, including the printer’s name, its location, and its driver.
In addition to the Apple menu, you can access printer settings via System Preferences. You can also add your printer to the Dock. When adding your printer to the Dock, you can choose to display the name of your printer in the Dock. Alternatively, you can select an option in the Printers & Scanners section.
However, you can only access this menu if you have a Mac. Typically, this will require you to install macOS 10.5 or later.

Similarly, you may want to use the system-wide CUPS command-line interface to configure your printer. CUPS, or Combined Universal Printing System, is a network printing service. Using this command-line interface, you can adjust the printer’s configuration, as well as set up a printer’s automatic duplexing.
One thing you can do while checking your printer’s settings is to activate the XROutput feature. Generally, this means that the device is capable of printing in both landscape and portrait modes. Another option is to enable auto-scrubbing, which is particularly helpful for printers with multifunction capabilities.
The most efficient way to do this is by using the “Find” command. As you type, your Mac will display a list of available printers. Select the one you want to change, and you’ll see a series of options.
To the left of the Find feature, you’ll notice a pop-up menu. Click on the small arrow next to the name of the printer. Usually, you’ll be presented with a “General Options” window. At the top, you’ll see a number of drop-down menus. Those menus let you select your default printer, choose the most important printer functions, and check the printer’s print quality.

Next, you’ll need to choose the appropriate paper size. Your printer will likely have a preset, but you can also choose the “Default paper size” pop-up menu.
Finally, you’ll need to decide whether to show a printout preview or a quick-and-dirty version of the preview. Once you’ve selected the right option, you’ll be prompted to confirm. Depending on the type of printer you’re working with, you may be able to save the preview to your desktop or to an external drive.
You can also try the Apple menu’s Show Details function. This option lets you view the most comprehensive list of print options.
